Government Accountability and Transparency
When it comes to governance and politics, I have a tenant I practice. I want people to know I am willing and open to hearing all concerns and will with my constituents’ issues in mind, believing that I won’t accept donations to “buy my vote,” but rather want people to donate to me and support me because they already know how I will vote. We need accountability and transparency in governance. We should not be surprised by what is hidden in legislation, budgets, or the motivation of officials. In the previous legislative session, the final budget was over 100 pages, presented the day prior to the end of session and had hidden power grab priorities of the communities we serve. I want to be accountable and transparent to the voters. If I am not doing a good job representing them, I hope they will tell me how to improve, and hold me accountable in the voting booth.
